Trespass Warnings & Appeals

For the protection of the University community and property and to reduce disruption of the University's activities and functions, it is sometimes necessary to prohibit individuals from entering or remaining upon property owned or leased by the University of Michigan by issuing a trespass warning.

Warnings

The Trespass Warning policy is administered in conjunction with the University of Michigan Freedom of Speech and Artistic Expression Policy, SPG 601.1, and the Violence in the University Community Policy, SPG 601.18.

Appeals

All individuals issued a trespass warning have the opportunity to appeal any and all of the trespass restrictions and shall be informed of that right when the warning is issued. A request for an initial formal hearing of a trespass warning may be submitted within 14 calendar days from the date the warning was issued.

There are two steps to the process:

Step 1: Requesting a formal hearing

Step 2: Requesting a final appeal
